Vocational education and training for adult prisoners & offenders in Australia

Research readings Edited by Susan Dawe Release date: 15 October 2007

A brand new book report research on vocational education in Australia has just been published. It was launched at the recent Australasian Corrections Education Association Conference in Melbourne in late October. This brand new book is a must reading for Americans. It confirms many of the findings about the benefits of education for the incarcerated. In fact, the overall recidivism rate for inmates who participated in vocational education in Queensland, Australia confirms a reduction from 32% to 23%, very similar to the CEA Three State Recidvism study released in 2001.
