Welcome to CEA National

A Mission to Teach, A Mission to Learn

Welcome to CEA. We are a professional association of educators and administrators who work in adult and juvenile corrections settings all over the world. We provide critical training, cutting-edge research, and valuable networking opportunities to our members so they can deliver effective, life-changing education to their students. CEA helps its members stay informed about the latest developments in education practice and the corrections industry.

Your mission is to deliver quality education and help inmates achieve successful release and reintegration into society. Our mission is to give you the resources and community you need to accomplish that.

Dear Corrections Colleagues,

In this time of national concern regarding COVID-19, your health and safety is our top priority.  As such, the National Institute of Corrections (NIC) has been diligent in gathering information about the virus and resources specific to the field of corrections.

So you have access to the latest information available, we have created a webpage at connecting you to a variety of resources that can help you in navigating these difficult times. You will find emergency and health information, as well as links to corrections-specific resources from our allied partners in the field, including the Bureau of Prisons and a variety of correctional associations. Highlights include:

  • Upcoming Live Events related to COVID-19

  • Health updates from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention

  • Guidance from the White House

  • News about what agencies throughout the federal government are doing

  • The Bureau of Prisons response to COVID-19

  • Links to the COVID-19 webpages of professional associations

As events continue to unfold, we will update the webpage accordingly. Therefore, you are encouraged to visit the page periodically for the latest information.

Thank you for your continued commitment to the safety and security of our nation’s correctional system during these constantly changing times. As you stand on the frontlines of this pandemic protecting the public, corrections staff, and those in your custody and care, we are here to support you. Now, as always, we are in this together.

Stay healthy and be safe,

Shaina Vanek
Acting Director
National Institute of Corrections
